Re-beavering Scotland’s Rivers

Professor Nigel Willby

After 400 years without them beavers have now been back in Scotland for 20 years and are living on our door step in Stirling.

Beavers are agents of change. In this talk we’ll explore why we brought these fascinating and sometimes controversial animals back to our lochs and rivers, whether they’ve done as we expected, and what the future holds. There will be props, tales of the unexpected, and candid accounts of life researching the ecological effects of beavers in Scotland and Scandinavia, the tricks we’ve used and what we learnt along the way.
